New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr left the field after taking a violent hit in the third quarter of Sunday's contest against the Minnesota Vikings, ending his game early.?
The Saints said that Carr suffered both a concussion and an injury to his right shoulder.?
After the game, NOLA.com was told by a source that Carr likely avoided a serious injury to his throwing shoulder. However, a test was required to determine the full extent of the injury.
As Carr was attempting to get a pass away, the quarterback took a hit up high from Vikings defensive end Danielle Hunter. Trainers quickly ran onto the field to check on Carr, who remained on the field after taking the hit.
Carr eventually got up and walked off the field under his own power before entering the injury tent. He was carted back to the locker room a few minutes later.
Early in the fourth quarter, Carr was ruled out for the remainder of the game.
