LSU head coach Jay Johnson coaches against Southern, Monday, April 1, 2024, at Alex Box Stadium on the campus of LSU in Baton Rouge, La.

LSU baseball right-handed pitcher Jaden Noot threw to hitters in a scrimmage at practice on Tuesday, LSU coach Jay Johnson revealed during his radio show Tuesday.

"It was awesome. He's just about ready to go," Johnson said. "And that's going to be a big lift for our pitching staff."

Noot has not pitched an inning at LSU after undergoing Tommy John surgery over a year ago. He was the No. 3 player in California and the No. 1 right-handed pitcher in the state in the Class of 2022, according to Perfect Game.

He was also selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 19th round of the 2022 MLB Draft.

The Tigers could benefit from Noot's capabilities on the mound. LSU has lost four consecutive games and five straight against Southeastern Conference competition. It surrendered 12 runs and eight earned in a loss to Southern on Monday.

LSU begins a three game series with Vanderbilt on Thursday at Alex Box Stadium. First pitch is scheduled for 6 p.m. and the game can be seen on ESPN2.
