The New Orleans Saints will always have those first two weeks, right? That's the biggest positive takeaway from the season to date. There's not much else to be excited about other than that the Black and Gold's toughest stretch is behind them. 2-3 isn't where the team wanted to be, but in hindsight, it's not a terrible position to be in after five games.
It's year three under Dennis Allen and year four without a playoff appearance for New Orleans. The Saints believe they have all of the pieces in place to make a run at the postseason this year. However, oddsmakers didn't exactly see it that way heading into the year.

Whether it's because of the roster or the brutal schedule remains to be seen. Sportsbooks listed the team as a long shot to reach the playoffs, never mind winning an important trophy.
One thing that will never change is that Derek Carr and Co. have 17 opportunities to go out and prove their doubters wrong this season. Super Bowl LIX will be hosted by the Caesars Superdome, so the expectations among fans are lofty leading up to the big game.
Do oddsmakers feel any differently about New Orleans after its latest result? Here are the Saints' updated playoff odds via FanDuel Sportsbook:

Odds to win the NFC South:?+340
Odds to make the NFL playoffs:?N/A
Oddsmakers didn't put much stock into the Saints' 26-13 loss in Kansas City on Monday Night Football. New Orleans' Super Bowl odds got shorter, moving from +5000 to +4000 over the last seven days.
This line movement indicates many still believe that Allen's men are capable of excellence at full strength. Unfortunately for the Black and Gold, there's no telling if or when they'll be healthy again this season.
The Super Bowl futures market was the only market kind to the Saints.
New Orleans' odds to win the NFC are up to +2300 from +1700, which puts it behind teams like Washington, Seattle and Tampa Bay.
The Saints (+340) are also last in a three-horse race for the NFC South right now. Atlanta (-110) and Tampa Bay (+220) are the front-runners. However, New Orleans' upcoming clash with the Buccaneers could change the landscape of the division's oddsboard once again in Week 6.
There are no odds listed for the Saints to make the playoffs at FanDuel as of the time of publishing on Oct. 8. New Orleans was -105 to reach the NFL Postseason before the loss in Week 5.
