A Louisiana State Police unit?

A Hammond man was killed in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 12 in Lacombe early Tuesday, Louisiana State Police said.

Alton Henry, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene on I-12 near La. 434.

State police said in a news release that Henry was driving a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado east on the highway at around 6:15 a.m. when his vehicle was struck from behind by a 2024 Volvo VNL driven by a 28-year-old California man.

The impact sent Henry's vehicle off the roadway and into a large tree. He was not wearing a seatbelt. The driver of the Volvo was also not wearing a seatbelt, but was uninjured, police said.

The crash remains under investigation and charges are pending. Routine toxicology samples were obtained from both drivers for analysis, police said.
