LSU football picked up a verbal pledge Friday from a defensive lineman recruit who was once committed to Texas.?
Brandon Brown, a four-star tackle from Florida, is a top-330 national prospect and one of the 40 best defensive linemen in the 2025 signing class, according to 247Sports' composite rankings.??
Brown's commitment is another feather in the cap of new LSU defensive line coach Bo Davis, who left Texas to take the same job with the Tigers in January. On3 reported Friday that LSU's decision to hire Davis was an important factor behind Brown's decision to switch his pledge.
On Thursday, LSU received a commitment from interior lineman Zion Williams, a four-star prospect from Lufkin, Texas. He was the second defensive lineman to pledge his talents to the Tigers' top-10 2025 recruiting class, headlined by quarterback Bryce Underwood and running back Harlem Berry.?
Underwood, a five-star from Michigan, is the consensus No. 1 player in the country. Berry, a native of New Orleans, is a top-20 national prospect and the best Louisiana-born player in the class.?
The top receiver in the nation, Dakorien Moore, was once committed to LSU. But he dropped his pledge to the Tigers in May and committed instead to Oregon on Thursday.?
In the 2024 recruiting cycle, LSU signed three interior d-linemen, most notably Dominick McKinley, the top-20 national prospect who starred at Acadiana High School.
It also signed a pair of transfers?— Wisconsin's Gio Paez and Grand Valley State's Jay'viar Suggs?— to help fill the holes left by Maason Smith and Mekhi Wingo, each of whom were selected in the 2024 NFL draft.?
