Kickoff for Tulane’s Sept. 21 football game at UL will be 11 a.m., the Sun Belt Conference announced Monday afternoon.
The game, which will be televised by ESPNU, has become a coincidental tradition for new Tulane coaches. The Green Wave last played the Cajuns in Lafayette in 2012, losing 41-13 in the first year of Curtis Johnson’s tenure. The teams’ most recent regular season meeting was in 2016 at Yulman Stadium — a four-overtime, 41-39 Tulane victory in Willie Fritz’s first season.
Now it is Jon Sumrall’s turn.
Tulane and UL also have split recent bowl games, with the Cajuns winning the 2013 New Orleans Bowl 24-21 and the Wave taking the 2018 Cure Bowl 41-24.
Tulane (1-1) plays at No. 15 Oklahoma this Saturday. UL (2-0) is off.
