Alvin Kamara answered a question with a question when asked Monday about him listing his Belle Chasse home for sale.

“You looking for a house?” the New Orleans Saints running back said with a smile.

Yes, Kamara recently listed his 6,924-square-foot house for sale. And yes, that decision came with the 29-year-old essentially in what’s a contract year while he and the team haven’t been able to strike a new deal.

But are those things related? Well, let Kamara explain.?

“Yeah, I’m selling my house,” Kamara said. “I would like to call myself a serial entrepreneur. I dabble in many things, the real estate market being one of them. Then I talked to (car dealer) Matt Bowers and he told me I can live with him. So I think it was a good financial decision to list my house.”

Kamara said he's using his brother as his real estate agent. The 5-bedroom, 5 ?- bathroom house, built in 2022, is listed at $2.75 million.

“I wouldn’t say I had ... an exact plan, but I had plans,” Kamara said. “I’m pretty intentional when it comes to those moves that I make with real estate. I got other properties around the city, too. So if I sell (the house) today, I’ll have somewhere to be, so I’m good.”

In June, Kamara walked out of the team’s last day of mandatory minicamp because he was unhappy with his contract situation. The running back is seeking a new deal as the Saints are unlikely to pay his $22.4 million base salary (with a $29 million cap hit) in 2025. New Orleans can save almost $19 million next year by releasing Kamara prior to June 1.

Despite that, Kamara reported for all of training camp. He missed more than a week with back tightness, but returned to practice Aug. 20 after the Saints returned from California.

In the Saints’ locker room Monday, Kamara said he’s reached the point in which he doesn’t want to talk about his contract until after the season.

“It’s too late for contract talk,” Kamara said. “Like I told y’all when I got to (training camp), if it get done, cool. If it don’t, cool.”

The Saints open their season Sunday, Sept. 8 against the Carolina Panthers.
