If you're heading Uptown to enjoy Carnival festivities on Sunday afternoon, don't forget your rain gear.

Some scattered afternoon showers are expected between 2 p.m. and 3 p.m., with more intermittent rain in the late afternoon, according to WWL Louisiana meteorologist Alexa Trischler.?

WWL reported that the expected afternoon rain is "not a washout" and there would likely be dry spells between rain. The weather will be warm and humid, with an expected high of 77 degrees.

Heavier rain and storms are expected later, at around midnight and into the early morning hours on Monday as a cold front moves through, according to WWL.??

Sunday's parades started with the Krewe of Okeanos at 11 a.m., followed by the Krewe of Mid-City. The Krewe of Thoth rolled at noon. Bacchus is starting a half an hour early, at 5:15 p.m., in an attempt to beat the heavier rains expected later.?
