A man was shot dead Tuesday at the London Lodge motel in the?9300 block of Airline Highway?near Hollygrove.
The victim was identified by a family member on the scene as Nasir Blanton, 20. His stepfather, Collins Jenkins, said Blanton was a loving father of a 1-year-old son.
"I don't know what I'm going to do," said Jenkins, stunned as he processed his stepson's death as other family members gathered at the scene.
NOPD investigators work the scene at the London Lodge motel on Airline Highway near Hollygrove.
Investigators with the New Orleans Police Department blocked off stairs from the lower level of the motel with police tape as detectives and crime scene technicians worked the scene inside a room on the second floor. Police interviewed witnesses staying in other rooms.
Blanton's mother and sister sobbed as they talked with police, their cries mingling with the notes from a nearby marching band practice.
No other details were immediately available, including a potential motive or possible suspect in the crime.?
