Photos: Stormin' of the Sazerac celebrates the women who drank at the Sazerac Bar in 1949
Ladies gathered at the Roosevelt New Orleans in 1940 and 1950s attire to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Stormin’ of the Sazerac. The event celebrates the women who went to the men-only Sazerac Bar on September 26, 1949, and demanded to be served a drink. Women were only allowed on Mardi Gras Day.
WDSU news anchor Sula Kim emceed the luncheon and Chef Nina Compton reigned as the Spirit of the Sazerac and second lined with the group to the Sazerac Bar inside the hotel.
