If you've been looking for a furry friend to call your own, this summer could be the perfect time for you to adopt.

Pet shelters around the U.S. will be offering reduced adoption fees for cats and dogs in July as part of the Empty the Shelters program.?

The nationwide pet adoption event is being hosted by Bissell Pet Foundation as a way to help match pets in shelter with families at affordable costs.?

Those who adopt from participating shelter during the event should pay no more than $50 for the adoption, according to Bissell. Pets adopted from shelters are vaccinated microchipped and spayed or neutered.?

Sixteen Louisiana shelters from all areas of the state are participating in the Empty the Shelters Summer event.?

The event is being held from July 8th through the 31st. For more information about adoptions costs or requirements during the event, contact your local shelter.?
