That's also the day the festival will put single-day tickets on sale.?

So far, the festival has only released its lineup by weekend.

Friday's unveiling won't include stage assignments and performance times. Those scheduling "cubes" are traditionally unveiled in late March, a month before the gates open at the Fair Grounds.?

This year, that opening day is Thursday, April 25, which the festival has designated as "Locals' Thursday." Louisiana residents can purchase up to two tickets for that day at $50 apiece.

The 53nd edition of what is officially the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival presented by Shell encompasses two four-day weekends at the Fair Grounds, April 25-28 and May 2-5, filling 14 stages each day.

This year’s festival spotlights the music and culture of Colombia. Seventeen Colombian bands, as well as Indigenous and Afro-Colombian artisans, will be featured at the festival’s newly rechristened Expedia Cultural Exchange Pavilion and elsewhere.

Until now, only weekend passes have been available.?

Four-day weekend passes for the second weekend, which include "Rolling Stones Thursday" on May 2, are sold out. So are all VIP four-day passes for the second weekend. Buyers who are still interested can join a waitlist in case additional passes become available.

Three-day passes for Friday, May 3, through Sunday, May 5, are still available, as are four-day passes for the first weekend.?

Some performers have already revealed the day on which they are performing.?

Jam band Widespread Panic, a veteran of many previous Jazz Fests, is scheduled for the opening Thursday, April 25.

Jon Batiste, who delivered an ambitious and acclaimed set during the 2023 Jazz Fest, is slated for Friday, April 26.

New Orleans-based guitarist and singer Samantha Fish is slated for Thursday, May 2. She’ll be on the same day, and possibly the same stage, as the Rolling Stones – just as she was scheduled to be in 2019, before the Stones canceled for Mick Jagger to have heart surgery.

Hozier returns to the Fair Grounds on Friday, May 3. He previously performed at the Gentilly Stage in 2015.

The 2024 Jazz Fest will also celebrate Jimmy Buffett, a frequent performer and longtime friend of the festival who died Sept. 1 at age 76 of a rare form of skin cancer. Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band, augmented by special guests, is set to perform on the closing Sunday, May 5.

Note: The date originally reported in this article for Chris Stapleton's performance at the Fair Grounds was incorrect. He is scheduled to perform on Saturday, April 27.
