A section of Audubon Park in Uptown New Orleans was closed off Monday as crews worked to inspect damage after a giant live oak tree split.
The tree appeared to have cracked down the middle, leaving one side of its towering branches collapsed on the ground.?
The park's beautiful live oaks are beloved by many of the city's residents. The trees can live to be hundreds of years old.
